Protein kinase C is activated when cells are stimulated by a number of agents. Its effects on the actin cytoskeleton are examined in BSC cells microinjected with fluorescent alpha-actinin.

Cells loaded with rhodamine alpha-actinin were stimulated with a phorbol ester. The treatment first induced transient ring shaped membrane ruffles, followed by the collapse of stress fibers.
